Find A Great Insurance Agent - Frequently Asked Questions
Money back guarantee? Really?
Yes, really. If I cannot provide you with suitable agents, I return your fee. No problem. You are the ultimate judge of the value of my service. Unhappy with the results of my work? I return your fee. You risk nothing.
How have you built your network?
I was an insurance agent for twenty years. I have been an insurance consultant since the year 2000. I have built relationships with the agents I work with for my clients. Agents subscribe to my free newsletter and read my "almost-daily" insurance blog. I am active in several insurance industry trade groups and internet insurance forums. I speak to agent groups and have written a few books on insurance topics. Also, agents register to participate in my network.
How long will it take for you to find me an agent?
I take the info you send to me and get it out to agents immediately. Most agents respond to me within a day. Sometimes it takes a bit of time for agents to line up references, as they need to get permission from their clients. Usually you will have several agents to pick from within three or four days.
Do you sell insurance?
Never.
Do insurance agents pay you to participate in your network?
No. In order for me to keep my unbiased position in the transaction, I can only accept fees from the insurance buyers I work with.
Do you share in the commission an agent earns when I buy insurance?
Never.
Do you accept gifts or other remuneration from the agents you recommend?
No. Sometimes an agent will send me a gift. I always return them. One agent sent me live lobsters a few years ago. Returning them was impractical. I donated them to my local fire department. The firefighters had a lobster feed that night, and the agent was sent a thank you note by the crew. I've been sent gift cards, booze, baseball tickets, and frozen steaks. All were returned. I don't even let agents buy me lunch, though sometimes I'll drink their coffee when I visit their office.
Who hires you to help them find an agent?
Businesses of all sizes, from all over the United States. I work with many non-profits. I get requests from newly formed businesses and companies that have been around for a while. Often, companies call on me when they have outgrown their agent or when the agency assigns a new agent to them.
Do you help businesses outside the US?
My network is not as large outside the US, though I do have some contacts. Drop me an email and let's figure it out - Scott@ScottSimmonds.com.
How does the process work?
Pretty simple: You pay my $75 fee by credit card or check. You answer a short questionnaire about your operation. I review your answers and go to my network of agents around the country. Insurance agents respond to me. No agent will call you. Your contact info is not shared. Your privacy is protected. I provide you with several suitable insurance agents who have expressed an interest in your business (though they don't know who you are). You also get references. You do your own due-diligence and select an insurance agent who's right for you. (I am certainly glad to assist in the selection of agents for an additional fee.)
What are the questions on your questionnaire?
Pretty basic stuff. I need to know about your business and your current insurance relationships. It will take you less than ten minutes to compete the form.
Is your payment system secure?
I use Paypal as my payment system because it is the world's most secure payment processing service. I never see your credit card number. I don't store your credit card number. I cannot get access to your credit card information. Your privacy is as secure as it can be. Other services use middlemen, leaving you vulnerable.
