Hire slow, fire fast has long been advice I have given.

Take your time hiring new employees.  Know what you’re getting.

If things turn bad – you see attitude problems, customer relationship trouble, skills that are lacking, and other broad issues – fire them.  The faster you get rid of bad apples, the better.

Avoiding the problem people is the best approach.
